Diagram types

The diagram techniques that Open modeling supports are:

• Flowcharts
• Hierarchical charts ( for instance Organization charts and Hierarchical Process decomposition )
• IDEF scheme
• Application landscape
• DEMO
• Archimate
• Use Case diagram
• Component diagram
• State diagram
• Entity Relationship Diagram
• Data Flow Diagram
• Screen sequence diagram ( to see the screens/reports of an application )

New diagram techniques or symbols can be added ( needs programming ).

The flow charts are made by simple user actions. The positions of the symbols are calculated by the rendering engine. This results in a consistent flowchart.

Some other diagrams are more free formatted:

• drag symbols lines are following the symbols
• resize symbols
• color the symbols using a color swatch
• choose a marker for the lines ( markers are defined in the database ). A marker can be an arrow of a line
• delete symbols
• saving diagram ( depends on authorisation )
• print in PDF ( all diagrams can be printed using the PDF format )

With Open Modeling software structured information can be stored. Based on a predefined structure,texts can be added and relations between data can be established. This structure is highly adaptable. All objects and attributes in the model can be defined completely and modified even during production,just like the symbols used on the diagram. The structure can be made effective by staging. This facilitates user-defined modifications to standard modeling techniques.

The user-interface can be modified using cascaded style sheets,so for instance the colors of the dialogues can be adapted to the style of your company.
