Why Open Modeling is called Open?
Open Modeling is an open source Modeling tool, but there is more to it.
- Open Modeling is independent of hardware, to a high degree of operating system (Windows, Linux of Unix). This makes scaling quit easy.
- Open Modeling can be used as a framework on which user defined intranet applications can be created.
- Open Modeling can be connected to existing intranet applications.
- You are open to choose your favorite browser (almost true, Mozilla still lacks some SVG things).
- You are open to choose your favorite database type.
- Existing graphical images can be used to navigate to data stored in Open Modeling. You can think for
instance about a road map, a Powerpoint image, etc. The end user can
create in a very easy way the links to the data. We call this an imagemap.
- Open Modeling supports a variety of strong data types en can be connected to external data
(Word, Powerpoint but other database applications as well).
